Homeward

A couple weeks ago, Tyler and I went back to my hometown to celebrate my brother's birthday with him. It had been over a year since I'd been back (and two since Tyler had) so it was definitely overdue. Here are a few of the highlights!

Since I hadn't been home in ages, spending time with family and friends was the biggest priority. I finally got to meet my brother's girlfriend, who is absolutely awesome! I also met up with the lovely Emma for some frozen yogurt; we started following each other on Instagram ages ago, and then I realized that not only does she live in my hometown, but she is actually friends with my brother! Such a crazy small world. So we made plans for an introduction, and she is every bit as sweet as I imagined. Love that girl!

We spent a few hours on Saturday in my mom's hometown, visiting family. We stopped by my grandma's for awhile and sat talking on her front porch. I was a little distracted by her cat, who was most biggest attention-seeking little thing I have ever seen. Any time I stopped petting her she would grab my hand with her paw and pull it back toward her. She did make me miss our little guys, though! (#crazycatlady)

Growing up in this area, I don't think I fully appreciated it. I mean, I wouldn't want to live there now, but it really is a beautiful place to visit. Green rolling hills and blue skies have a special place in my heart.

My brother wanted to go to the rodeo for his birthday (sometimes I'm not sure we're related....) so that's what we did Saturday night. It was actually a lot of fun, and I'll post more about it later; I took toooooo many pictures.

Rodeo

This is the most random thing, but I have to include it because it cracks me up. My brother made a bunch of sweet pickles using my grandmother's recipe and gave me some. This is what was on the jar when I got it. *insert crying laughing emoji*

Sunday we headed home (with a couple pit stops along the way...#JollyCone4Lyfe..) It was a crazy short trip, but we already have plans to go back in the fall. A year is far too long between visits!
