Our First Snowfall

Thursday we were greeted by Winter Storm Cleon (who names these things? CLEON? Seriously?) who  made sure that our first snowfall of the season was a real doozy. It started out with some freezing rain & sleet (grooooooss) on Thursday, but Friday was like being in a snowglobe. Fluffy white stuff everywhere. The roads were pretty sketchy, so we waited until Saturday to venture out of our warm apartment. We still managed to accidentally step in snow drifts over our knees, but at least my car is still in one piece.

I love snow. I hate the cold, and apart from Christmas, I'm not a huge fan of winter; I'm a cold-natured person, so winter seems especially cruel to me. I figure, though, if it's going to be cold anyway, it can at least be pretty. So I'll take it.

  2. Yes, I love that, cold is better if it look pretty! Though I'm not a fan of how brown and slushy snow goes after, but I love how it looks when you wake up and its fresh and clean. Lovely photos Jess!

    1. Yeah, we have officially entered the brown and slushy stage here...ick! We're supposed to get another 3-5 inches of snow overnight tonight, though, so maybe all will be clean and white again in the morning!

  3. And we just keep getting more! Although I didn't realize this was officially "Winter Storm Cleon" - I have to agree, who names these things?! It's all supposed to be going away in the next few days though - but I kind of hope we have more for Christmas. The last time we had a white Christmas was 2000, I think.

    1. Yeah, and according to my husband, the one for tonight is supposedly named Electra? I mean, COME ON. Weirdest names ever. And then back into the 50s by Wednesday? If we expect some modicum of consistency in our weather, we're definitely living in the wrong place!

  4. I don't like the cold either. I like to be warm, but the cold is so nice sometimes.. I just don't have enough clothes to wear to keep warm! :]

    1. I layer like a madwoman! There is nothing fashionable about the way I dress when it's snowy and icy outside! Haha.
