Falling in Love with Our Town

I'm one who can never be satisfied. It's probably one of my greatest faults, if we're being honest. I always want to do more, see more, be more...sometimes at the expense of living in the moment and appreciating what I have. Recently I've been trying to slow down more, to look around and see the beauty and life that surrounds my everyday. A lot of the time, this isn't easy (although our gorgeous Ozark autumns do lend a hand), but every once in a while I see something that stops me in my tracks and makes me truly appreciate the life I have in this small Midwestern town. England will forever be my dream. Portland will always be my favorite US city. But for now, Springfield is my home, and I'm falling a little bit more in love with it day by day.

  1. So I just came across the the book "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp. Maybe you've heard of it? Anyway - it's about living fully and being content right where you are. I just ordered it (in fact, it should be arriving today!) I'll let you know how it is, once I get to reading! (And I think there's a devotional that goes with it, too... you know, if you're into that!)

    1. Please do! I'm so picky about that kind of thing, but I've heard lots of great reviews on it. I'd love to hear what you think!

  2. Thank you so much for your comment on my ghost block tutorial! I think you should totally try quilting! It is so much easier than sewing your own clothes and you could start with a simple little pot holder or a pillow! I thought my friend how to sew a pillow who has never used a sewing machine before!
If you'd like me to help you or answer some questions about where to start you can always email me (sewmuchtosay@gmail.com).

I love autumn! The colors are so beautiful. I have always wanted to yarn bomb, too. It is on my bucket list!

    1. I might try a little potholder or pillow. I have some (very) basic sewing skills, but I haven't done it in years. My husband is getting me a sewing machine for Christmas (he's a keeper, I tell ya!) so I might give it a try after I practice a little! :) I'll definitely hold on to your email address, too!

    1. I know, right? It's so crazy! There's a local group that goes around town yarn-bombing, but this is by far the biggest thing they've tackled so far!
