Life in IG

Happy Friday! Hope you are enjoying an extra long weekend, if you're here in the States (or if you're elsewhere and just really lucky)! I've been slacking a bit this week, so here are some Instagram snaps to keep you up to speed on my simple little life.

Monday night is Antiques Roadshow night around here. So much so, that this is an actual conversation that happened between Tyler and I on July 1st:

Tyler: "Do you know what today is?"
Me: "Our first-date anniversary!"
Tyler: "Oh yeah.....um, what else?"
Me: "No idea."
Tyler: "Antiques Roadshow night!"

Sometimes, the only cure for a rough day is dinner at a local Chinese buffet.

Related to the above, I'm living for the weekends lately....especially for 5-day weekends like the one I'm in now.

I met with my former graduate adviser over some career decisions and general life catch-up, and I left feeling so inspired. I learned a lot about my strengths and the way other people view me. It's so strange how your mentors turn into your friends. Grateful.

Finished out my first roll of film last week! Turns out that thrift store camera was a good buy. You can see some of my favorite shots here.

Are you tired of pictures of snowcones yet? Because I'm definitely not tired of eating them. (ALSO: Is it snowcone? Snow cone? Snow-cone? Snocone? Sno-cone? Why is life so hard?)

I had really forgotten how much I love prints. There is truly nothing like film photography. The hope, anticipation, tangibility....*sigh* I sound like a lovesick teenager.

Ya know what sucks? Insomnia.

Thanks to a sweet Instagram friend, I finally found a pair of these. Tyler calls me his "SEMO love" when I wear them ("SEMO" being the abbreviation for Southeast Missouri--where I'm from, and where Tyler thinks all my country tendencies come from), but I don't care. Shorteralls all the way.

This could be one of the creepiest pictures of my husband ever taken.

I started reading this, and finished it in less than a day. Seriously couldn't put it down. One of my favorite thrift finds ever.

The mister and I went hiking at Ha Ha Tonka to kick off our mini-vacation together. It was a total fluke, but he had three days off right at the start of my 5-day weekend, and we made the most of it! There were a ton more Instagrams from this day, but I'll spare you for now; I'll do a full post on this adventure soon. It was amazing! (In the meantime, if your curiosity is piqued, you can see a few pictures on my personal and iphonography Instagram accounts.)

Independence Day excursion. Big Whiskey's, Barnes & Noble, Entertainmart, Pier One, Pineapple Whip. Oh, and Phil Collins on the radio. Because that's what freedom is really all about.

Four-book set of Hemingway novels. I own most of them already. Somebody tell me it's not totally insane that I want to buy this edition just because I'm completely obsessed with the cover art.

Did I mention Pineapple Whip? Because Pineapple Whip.

Hope all you fellow Americans had a lovely Independence Day and didn't have to call the police because some teenage boys were driving down the road lighting fireworks and throwing them out of their car at your vehicle. Not that I had to do that or anything. Yes I did. I totally did. KIDS THESE DAYS, I TELL YOU.

  2. I am seriously lacking the snowcones and pineapple whip this summer. I don't actually know what pineapple whip is but it sounds like something I NEED in my life.

    1. Oh you definitely do! It kinda has the texture of soft-serve ice cream, but it's made with pineapple juice instead of dairy. It's the best!
