I had been wanting to try out That Lebanese Place, a (you guessed it!) Lebanese Restaurant on Commercial Street for what seems like forever. I had tried Greek food during my first trip to Portland and loved it, and I knew that there were some similarities due to Greece's proximity to Lebanon. I really didn't know entirely what I was getting into, but I'm pretty adventurous. Tyler wasn't so keen on the idea at first, but we both really loved it. He got the Pepper Joe, and the waiter talked me into the Beef Gyro with tomatoes and hummus. I normally hate tomatoes (they taste like dirt, don't deny it), but combined with the meat and spices, it was amazing. I ended up taking some of my gyro home just so I had room for the traditional Baklava. So good! I didn't take many pictures, because once the food arrived, my mind was elsewhere. Here are a few I managed to snap before my stomach got the better of me.
I LOVE Middle Eastern food. Nothing like it. Feta and olives for breakfast? Yes, please. :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! We used to have another Middle Eastern restaurant, but the owner moved away (back home I think) for awhile. I heard that he has a new one, though, with the same type of food. I'm going on a hunt....
DeleteI love finding new to me places to try! Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteOf course! Me too. If you find any new local faves, be sure to send some recommendations my way.
