A Sommer Saturday

Yeah, Artsfest didn't happen. Well, it still happened, but I didn't go. So bummed. We had a record late snowfall on Friday and Saturday morning that transitioned to rain Saturday afternoon. Snow in May? Gah. Freaking Missouri. I can handle being cold or wet, but not cold AND wet.  Pneumonia doesn't sound like a good way to kick off spring. Did any of you locals brave the elements?

Not going to Artsfest did clear my schedule Saturday to meet up with my amazing friend Sommer, and I was able to justify buying some new (to me) records, since I had planned on buying some things at AF. I added Patsy Cline, Elton John, Lester Flatt, Paul Simon, and a Gene Autry Christmas Album to my ever-growing collection. (I might have a few coming from Amazon this week, too!)

I'm a gem, I know.

We honestly planned on meeting up for a quick coffee, but we ended up spending pretty much the whole afternoon together. That always seems to happen! After running some errands, we went to Relics (huge surprise, right?) because Sommer had never been, and we thought the tea room would be a perfect place to grab a quick bite. (It was super tasty, by the way.) Of course we ended up wandering around looking at antiques for hours.

Side (semi-embarrassing) note: When I went to pay for my records at Relics, I started to hand my ID to the cashier, and she waved it away, saying, "You're good. I know who you are; you're in here all the time!" I mean, there are definitely worse places to be a "regular", but I think this might be a sign of a serious addiction, ya'll.

I enjoyed every minute of my "Sommer Saturday." She's one of those friends that I know I'll have for the rest of my life. No matter how long it's been since we've seen each other (and with our crazy conflicting schedules, it can be awhile!), we always pick right back up where we left off, and it's like no time has passed at all. Plus, we share an affinity for Sonic Shakes and paranormal tv shows. BFFs. Love you, Sommer Jo!

  2. I just found your blog and love it! I can't imagine snow right now. If snow dared to fall once more this season in upstate NY I would probably just stay indoors the entire day. Adorable blog.

    1. I think half our town freaked out when it actually snowed--we all thought the weatherman was full of it. :) We hadn't had snow that late in recorded history! Hopefully we're finished with that craziness. Thanks for reading! :)
