Turkey Day Festivities

Thanksgiving was good to us this year. We headed up to Kansas City to Tyler's sister's house and had the best couple of days with them! It was wonderful to get to visit with Heather, Ott, and the kids, and they made sure we had a packed Black Friday, too! I fell a little bit in love with KC, if I'm being honest. We brought our camera, but forgot a memory card (we're geniuses), so we had to document everything via iPhone. Here are some snapshots of our holiday.

Tilly (the dog) wasn't sure what to think of us, but she warmed up pretty quickly. ;) We caught up and ate some delicious food that Heather made.

We went down to the Plaza Lighting Ceremony, which was amazing (and cold!). Guess who flipped the switch to light up the Plaza? Rob freakin' Riggle!

The crowd behind us was almost endless. My favorite part of this picture, though, is the random dude who smiled for it. Ha.

We stopped by Union Station on the way home (which will be a whole separate post, because it blew my Christmas-lovin' mind), then climbed the war memorial to get a view of the skyline. I'm thinking a summer KC trip is in our future, because I want to come back when it's warmer and explore some more!

Here's a view of Union Station (in red) and the skyline from the war memorial. Too pretty. KC, I kinda love you.

We saw Frozen on Friday (so good!), and then did a little bit of shopping after the Black Friday madness had calmed down. Of course Tyler and the kids had to take some pictures with the superhero Lego statues in the theater. :)

That was our little Thanksgiving. It was absolutely perfect. How was yours?

    1. I know! Growing up on the other side of the state, I honestly hadn't been more than a handful of times. I was surprised at how much I really loved it this trip. I told Tyler I wouldn't be heartbroken if we ended up having to move there someday. :)

  3. Thanks for reminding me how awesome KC is. We've lived here for four years and almost never do anything downtown. We need to more!

  4. I've been wanting to do a weekend KC trip for ages. I think I'm going to make my friends go up with me in the springtime as a birthday celebration. But the idea of going to see it when it's all lit up is very tempting!
