"...and they shall call him Immanuel, which means 'God with us'" --Matthew 1:23
That has always been my favorite Christmas verse, for as long as I can remember. A God that reaches down, a God that appears, a God that shows up--a God that is with us. No matter our crap, our sin, our issues, or our wounds, God is with us. He came down to be with us in the midst of the mess we had become, not to clean it up and make our lives perfect, but to walk with us through it, and give us hope--to show us how to live, how to bring Heaven down. And when He came, he came humbly, quietly. How much we could learn just from that. Today, I hope you feel the quiet presence of the One who came to be with you, and that you know just how very much you are loved. Happy Christmas.
