Etsy Obsessions: Emmybean

Today I'm featuring the adorable Etsy shop Emmybean! I found Emmybean  awhile back when I was searching Etsy for raw diamond jewelry, and immediately fell in love with several pieces.

Emily, the owner, is the sweetest! When she saw that one of her rings had a reoccurring spot on my wishboards (here and here), she sent me one of my own. I have worn it literally almost every day since! Isn't it gorgeous? It's a perfect stacking ring, too.

Emily worked in book publishing for 10 years before beginning her work as a full-time jewelry designer, wife, and momma to her daughter & sweet rescued English bulldog. She specializes in custom and one-of-a-kind pieces (so if you see something you love, you better snag it!). I love her philosophy on raw diamonds: "Why would I want to make pieces that are completely identical, every item looking exactly the same? That's the goal with cut diamonds: perfection, and every stone looking identical. Who wants to have the exact same piece of jewelry as everyone else?" This appreciation for individuality also leads her to offer custom pieces using bits & pieces of her customer's own treasures, such as stones or seaglass brought back from travels, or shards of broken glass--a lovely way to ease the sting of breaking the teacup you inherited from your grandmother. :)

Emily is also incredibly environmentally responsible too. She uses primarily locally sourced and reclaimed materials, as well as conflict-free diamonds, and employs eco-friendly processes for soldering, cleaning, and polishing her jewelry. I think it's a really incredible thing to be able to know not only where your jewelry came from, but also how it was made.

You can check out more of Emmybean via Etsy, Facebook, or Emily's blog. You can also contact her regarding custom orders by emailing her at emmybeanjewelry (at) gmail (dot) com.
